Last night was surreal, don’t want to think abt it… I hope it wasn’t a dream, I’d pinch myself till I’m blue… Don’t wish to be disappointed again… After so long… I can finally scream out to the world, I’m finally happy

Makes you wonder really, it’s always a problem with ‘tone from the top’.

There was this one recent incident, at City Hall, I was queuing up to buy myself a train ticket, when I observed the following:

A tourist, was standing in front of the top up machine, figuring out what to do with his refundable card. Spotting a ‘friendly’ SMRT staff just next to him, he got the attention of the guy and waved the card slightly.

The staff, just gestured curtly to the machine and carried on doing his own thing.

So this poor tourist, stands in front of the machine, for a couple of minutes looking confused. All the while, the SMRT staff paid no heed to him.

He was already prepared to walk off without getting back his deposit until I went over to help.

I guess, he was pushed aside to serve because his skin wasn’t white, and eyes weren’t blue.

Like seriously, SMRT, time to wake up!

Let’s start with what’s obvious – still slogging at my first job. Though I’ve learnt to let go, a lot (some people beg to differ); and that I really enjoy working for my current bosses, the lure of the job isn’t so great anymore. I’m sure I knew it was coming from a mile away, against the backdrop of an internal restructuring, coupled with shitty implementation of new policies. And atop of this forced unpaid leave! (in the nastier phrase: pay cut)

But I guess the most important thing is… I am happy! (I think, and would very much like to continue to believe so)

Am heading to China this Sunday for an engagement. Sighs, reading the processes was a pain in the arse. And I used to be from a SAP primary school, oh the shame. It’s good exposure though… Hopefully I’ll gain something from this and come back smarter/ enlightened… Preferably without a lung infection too (have you not read about the smog there?? It’s absolutely terrible.)

Work aside, recently I’ve been attacked by fleeting waves of paranoia. It creeps up on me when I least expect it, and the next moment I’m thinking of worst case scenarios to current situations. I attribute it to a lack of sleep and an increase in hormones.

In any case, hello again my friend. I hope we bump into each other again real soon.

I always get these same questions:
1) Where are you from?
2) How long are you here for?
3) Where are you staying?
4) Do you like it here?

And after repeating myself 10 times to various people, sometimes I get the urge to just grab a cardboard box and write the answers to the questions on it..

Mmmm, or maybe I’m just tired. A sabbatical sounds good. Was discussing it over dinner with friends, on how burnt out we are, that even with a seemingly “lighter” workload, I am just extremely worn out and jaded.

Bleh. Random post.

Ironic. Cuz that’s where I feel I am right now.
